So this year's UK Shamanic Gathering will be from 9-13 September in Somerset. We welcome all approaches to Shamanism, you don't need to be from the UK, and we are inviting workshop presentations: if you have an interesting angle on Shamanism, please consider offering something at the Gathering. Shamanism is a bit of a protean word. I think it has broadly come to mean our modern attempt to be inspired by indigenous ways of seeing and relating to the world. As well as our attempt to create something that is our own. We look both back and forwards, and we may not be certain where this thing is going. But the spirits are there to guide us. I’ve been around Shamanism, one way or the other, since the mid 90s. I did the usual courses that included Shamanic Journeying, Medicine Wheel, Sweatlodges, Trance Dance, Vision Quests etc. Then a Native Canadian teacher turned up on my doorstep, and I learnt another perspective. And twice (so far) this shamanic thing has grabbed hold of my life and changed it radically. I recently wrote a book on the Medicine Wheel and one on Astrology (both came out with Moon books in 2022). I am currently writing a shamanic fantasy novel as a way of talking about being and working with the spirits.
